What a private December day with us actually looks like

The Brussels market is the easy part. Anyone can point a van at Belgium and press play. What makes this day worth doing privately is everything around it: who is guiding you, what happens in the van, and who you call if something goes sideways two countries from your hotel.

  • Door to door from your hotel

Private days start at your address in Amsterdam and end back at it. Our group tours meet in front of Centraal Station. This one comes to you.

  • New cars and mini-vans

You are on the road for most of a December day, there and back across a border. The vehicles are new, and Antonis is a licensed guide, VOG screened and first aid certified. That is the first decision we make, before anything else about the day gets planned.

  • The most authentic route we can find

The straight motorway run is not the interesting one. We look for the roads and the stops that show you something, like the border puzzle at Baarle-Nassau, where the line runs through cafes and front doors.

  • Guiding on the road, not just on foot

The hours on the road are part of the tour. We talk about the past, the present and the future of the country you are crossing. We laugh a lot. Nobody is reciting dates at you.

  • The programme bends to you, and to the weather

December in Belgium does what it likes. Rain, wind, a market heaving at three o'clock. We move the order of the day around it, and around what your group actually feels like doing.

  • We know where to eat and drink

Ask where the good waffle really is, which bar pours the beer properly, what is worth queuing for and what is not. In Brussels, in Amsterdam, in whatever city the day takes us to. You get the local answer, not the review site answer.

  • The greenest option that actually works

Car, mini-van or bus, we look for the greenest feasible choice for the group and the route every time. Not the greenest thing we can put on a website. The greenest thing that can genuinely do the day.

  • Water and books on board

Water is provided on every trip. There are books in the van if you want the quiet stretch of motorway to yourself. Some people talk the whole way, some people read. Both are fine.

  • VR and wifi, if you ask for them

Antonis has VR and will bring it if you ask when you book, and wifi in the van is free to anyone who wants it. Neither is part of the standard tour, so tell us in advance.

  • Tastings at family places, not tourist stops

When a tasting fits your day, Antonis arranges it himself, at family run places where somebody's name is on the door. Never at a farm built for coaches.

  • If something goes wrong, we are local

A lost phone, a lost bag, an ankle gone on wet cobbles. Antonis is local, first aid certified, and knows who to call and where to go. You are not standing in a Brussels side street with a translation app.

  • A short film of your day

Antonis films along the way: the van, the road, the Grand Place, the lights coming on. You get a short edited video afterwards. It is not an upsell and you do not have to ask for it.

Why EcoEcho?

Not a boring drive

We don't just get you there. We make the travel time part of the fun with engaging stories about the Low Countries, history quizzes, and AR overlays.

Flexible & Friendly

Want to stay a bit longer for one more gluhwein? No problem. Need a bathroom break? Done. It's your private day.

From the field notes

Booking this for a group, a school or a company

We run the same December day for agencies and tour operators, schools and universities, and companies. You get one contact, Antonis, from the first email to the film that lands after the day. Private groups are collected door to door from your hotel or venue in Amsterdam and guided in English or Greek by a licensed, VOG screened, first aid certified guide, in new mini-vans. The programme is built around your brief: a shorter market window, a longer one, a tasting at a family run place along the route. Larger parties run as several vans on the same programme. Every group gets the short edited film, which reliably does more for a school newsletter or an internal recap than a folder of phone photos.

  • One named contact from enquiry to follow up, not a booking desk
  • Door to door pickup in Amsterdam, private van, new vehicles, maximum eight per van
  • Licensed guide, VOG screened, first aid certified, English or Greek
  • Programme adapted to your brief and to December weather
  • A short edited film of the day, included, ready for your recap or newsletter
  • The greenest feasible vehicle for the group size and the route
  • Invoicing with KvK 66261589 and BTW NL002485354B87 for Dutch and EU entities

Send Antonis your dates, group size and what the day needs to achieve, and you get back a proposed programme rather than a brochure.

Got Questions?

Everything travelers ask us about this tour.

When does the private Christmas trip run?
December only, during the Christmas season, while the Brussels Winter Wonders markets are on.
Where do you pick us up?
Door to door, from your hotel or address in Amsterdam. Antonis confirms the exact pickup time and address the day before.
    How many people can join?
It is private, sized around you, with no fixed maximum. Tell us your group and we build the day around it.
    How long is the day?
A full day, 10 to 12 hours, from the door to door pickup in Amsterdam to the drive home after the light show.
What language is the tour in?
    English or Greek.
Do we get anything to keep from the day?
Yes. Antonis films along the way and sends you a short edited video of your day afterwards. It is part of every private tour, including this one, and there is nothing extra to pay or to ask for.
Is there water in the van, and anything to do on the drive?
Water is provided on every trip. There are also books on board. Between Amsterdam and Brussels you have a few hours of road, so you can talk, read, or watch the Low Countries go past.
Is there wifi in the van?
Yes, and it is free to anyone who wants it. Just ask Antonis and he will set it up.
    Can we try the VR?
VR is available on request. Antonis can bring it if you ask when you book. It is not a standard part of the tour, so mention it in advance and it comes with us for the day.
    Do you have child seats?
Child seats are available on request. Tell Antonis the ages when you send your dates and he will have them ready in the van.
    What is your cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour start time, and the full amount goes back to your original payment method within 5 business days. After that the booking is charged in full. For larger parties of nine or more on one booking a sliding scale applies: full refund 14 days or more ahead, 75 percent between 7 and 14 days, 50 percent between 48 hours and 7 days. If we cancel because of serious weather you are refunded in full, and we always offer another date first.
Do you arrange tastings on this trip?
When a tasting suits your group and the route, Antonis arranges it himself, at family run places, not at farms or shops built for tour coaches. Tell us what you like and we will see what fits the December day.
What kind of vehicle do you use, and how green is it?
Whether a day calls for a car, a mini-van or a bus, we look for the greenest feasible option for that group and that route. For a private Amsterdam to Brussels day it is normally a mini-van, with a maximum of eight on board.
What are the vehicles like for Belgium and back?
We use new cars and mini-vans. Antonis is a licensed guide, VOG screened and first aid certified, and he knows this route inside out. It is a long December day, so the condition of the vehicle is not something we improvise.
What happens if the weather is bad in Brussels?
We adapt. The programme moves around rain, wind and how busy the market is, and around what your group wants once we are there. Being private means the order of the day is not fixed to anybody else's schedule.
What if something goes wrong while we are in Belgium?
Antonis is local and knows what to do. If someone loses a phone or a bag, or gets hurt, he handles it on the spot. He is first aid certified, and he knows who to speak to and where to go. You are not sorting it out alone in a foreign city.
Can you tell us where to eat and drink in Brussels?
That is half the point of bringing a guide. Antonis will tell you where the waffle is actually worth it, which bar pours the beer properly, and which market stalls to walk past. Same in Amsterdam, and in any city we go to.
Is there guiding during the drive, or only in Brussels?
Both. The road is part of the tour. In the van we talk about the past, the present and the future of the country we are crossing, we take questions, and we laugh a fair amount. In Brussels you get a guided orientation walk before your free time at the market.
Where exactly do you pick us up?
Private days are door to door. We collect you from your hotel or address in Amsterdam and bring you back there. Our group tours meet in front of Centraal Station instead.
How far in advance should we book a private day?
As early as you can. December private days are limited and the good dates around the Christmas markets go first, so the sooner you send your dates the better the chance the day is still open. Send them as soon as you know them and Antonis will come back and tell you what is available.
